Our Foundation

St. Mary’s Orthodox School is run by the St. Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church Society, Kanpur. The Orthodox Church is a part of worldwide Christendom. The indigenous and ancient community of Orthodox Christians traces its origin to the arrival of St. Thomas, one of the disciples of Christ, in A.D. 52.

St. Mary, the Mother of Lord Jesus Christ, is the patron saint of the school. The school is a minority institution established under the minority rights guaranteed by the Indian Constitution.

Our Journey Through the Decades

1977

Foundation Stone Laid

St. Mary’s Orthodox School was established by the St. Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church Society in Kanpur, with a vision to provide quality education rooted in Christian values.

1985

CISCE Affiliation Granted

The school received affiliation from the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, elevating its academic standards to a national level.

1995

ISC (Class XII) Programme Launched

The Senior Secondary programme was introduced, offering Science and Commerce streams to prepare students for higher education and competitive exams.

2010

Modern Infrastructure Expansion

State-of-the-art science labs, computer labs and Robotics LabΒ  were added to enhance the learning environment.

2024

47 Years of Excellence

Today, St. Mary’s Orthodox School stands as one of Kanpur’s most respected institutions with 1400+ students, 70+ faculty members and a legacy of 100% board results.
